Price

This is the biggest difference. On a private trek one party pays for the whole crew: guide, porters, cook and transport. On a sharing group trek these costs are split between up to 8 trekkers. That is why our join group treks start from USD 118 per person (Trek Only).

Comfort and equipment

Many people think a cheaper trek means worse equipment. It doesn't have to. On our join group treks you get a tent, sleeping bag, mattress, toilet tent and all meals on the trek – the same standard you would expect on a private trip.

Flexibility

Here a private trek wins: you choose the exact date and pace, and nobody else is waiting for you. On a join group trek you follow the group's schedule. In practice, your guide sets a pace that works for everyone, and in the trekking season groups depart almost every day, so finding a date is usually easy.

Atmosphere

For many guests this is the best part of a join group. You watch the sunrise on the summit, swim in the hot springs and share dinner at the crater rim with people from all over the world. Solo travellers especially love it.
